Geribá Beach is Búzios’ most famous and energetic beach — the go-to spot for open-ocean scenery, wide sand, sports, and full beach infrastructure. With nearly 2 km of shoreline, fine white sand, and generally cooler, rougher water than sheltered bays, Geribá is a local reference for surfing and a top choice for beach bars, restaurants, and beach-club style service.
Sea conditions (and where it feels calmer)
Facing the open Atlantic, Geribá tends to have more swell and current than protected coves like Ferradura. On bigger swell days it becomes more powerful. If you want easier swimming, check the conditions and look toward the edges of the beach rather than the most exposed central stretch.
Surf, wind & beach sports
Geribá is an exposed beach break with consistent surf. Surf guides commonly note N/NE winds as favorable and east swell as a key direction for quality waves. On the sand, the beach also has a designated area for sports (volleyball/footvolley) near the left corner, which is often one of the busiest zones.
Facilities: bars, restaurants & beach clubs
Geribá stands out for infrastructure. Along the beachfront you’ll find kiosks and restaurants, plus well-known beach clubs. A classic name is Fishbone, which presents itself as a beachfront restaurant and beach club at Geribá and lists its address at Rua Gerbert Perissé, 1196. In high season, it’s common to find music and events, making Geribá ideal for those who want a “serviced beach day.”
How to get there
Geribá is easy to reach by car, taxi, or ride-share, and it’s also a major accommodation hub in Búzios — many visitors stay nearby and walk to the sand. During peak season (summer, weekends, holidays), arriving earlier helps with traffic and parking logistics.
Access to Ferradurinha Beach
One of Geribá’s best add-ons is the access to Ferradurinha Beach. The usual route starts from the left side of Geribá and is often described as a short walk (commonly cited around 400 meters) via an access road/path. It’s a great combo: Geribá for energy and surf; Ferradurinha for a smaller, scenic cove.
