Armação Beach is the historical and cultural heart of Búzios, located along the famous Orla Bardot, between downtown and Praia dos Ossos. With approximately 400 meters of shoreline, it features calm waters, anchored fishing boats, a scenic promenade and colonial-style buildings.
Sea and atmosphere
The sea is generally calm and sheltered, making the area ideal for light swimming, walking and paddle-based water sports. Armação is less about long beach days and more about scenery, culture and maritime life.
Piers and boat tours
The beach has two important piers. The Central Pier is the main departure point for boat tours, schooners, water taxis and private boats that explore Búzios’ beaches and islands. The Fishermen’s Pier is still actively used by the local fishing community.

Armação Beach is surrounded by restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. The famous Rua das Pedras is only a short walk away, making this area one of the most accessible and vibrant parts of Búzios.
History
The name “Armação” refers to the whaling stations established here from 1729 onward, when the region served as a base for whale hunting. This history remains a key part of the local identity.
Best time to visit
The beach can be visited throughout the day, but late afternoon is especially popular for sunset views and the lively atmosphere along Orla Bardot.
