A schooner tour in Búzios is one of the peninsula’s most iconic experiences. On board a traditional wooden vessel, you sail through crystal-clear Atlantic waters and discover beaches accessible only by sea, with the salty breeze in your face and an endless horizon opening up around every headland.
The Route
Tours depart from Marina de Búzios – Porto da Barra in the town centre and visit between 7 and 8 beaches over 4 to 5 hours. The classic itinerary includes beaches along the eastern coast, such as João Fernandes, João Fernandinho, Azeda, Azedinha, Ossos and, depending on winds, more distant beaches like Tartaruga and Brava. At each stop the schooner anchors and passengers can snorkel, swim or simply take in the scenery.
On Board
The schooner accommodates up to 50 passengers, with an open deck, a bow sunbathing area and generally an open bar with drinks included in the ticket price. The crew provides snorkelling gear and life jackets for all. The atmosphere is relaxed and festive — music plays in the background as the landscape changes with each stop.
Duration and Prices
The tour lasts an average of 4 to 5 hours, departing in the morning or early afternoon. Prices range from R$ 80 to R$ 150 per person depending on the season and operator. During peak season (December to March and public holidays), booking at least 2 days in advance is recommended.
Tips to Make the Most of It
Bring water-resistant sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) and reapply throughout the tour. A lycra rash guard is handy for more comfortable swimming. Sandals that can get wet are more practical than flip-flops. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take your usual medication around 30 minutes before boarding. A waterproof camera or phone case is well worth it for capturing the beach stops.
How to Book
Sea Tiger Turismo is one of Búzios’s most established operators, with daily departures during the season. Bookings can be made directly at the marina ticket office or by phone. Other options include travel agencies on Orla Bardot and Rua das Pedras.
