Olho de Boi Beach

Olho de Boi Beach in Búzios is the city’s only official nudist beach, small and secluded, accessed by a trail from Praia Brava with mandatory naturism rules.

Praia do Olho de Boi - Brava, Armação dos Búzios, RJ, 28953-030, Brazil

About

Olho de Boi Beach is the only officially recognized naturist (nudist) beach in Búzios. Small and secluded, with around 100 meters of shoreline, it is set between rocky cliffs and native vegetation, creating a quiet and private cove focused on naturism, privacy and nature.

Natural features

The beach has a narrow strip of sand, clear water on calm days and rocky walls that help shelter it from wind. When the sea is stronger, waves hit the rocks and create small natural waterfalls. Shells and sea remnants are common along the sand, reinforcing its wild character. The name “Olho de Boi” comes from red seeds found in the area.

Naturism rules

Nudism is mandatory on the sand area. Clothing is only allowed on the rocks or during the access trail. Photography and filming are strictly prohibited to protect visitors’ privacy. Respectful behavior and discretion are core principles of the beach.

Access (trail only)

Access is exclusively via a trail starting at the right side of Praia Brava. The route is about 1 km long, steep in parts, and takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes. Proper footwear and attention are required.

What to bring

  • Plenty of water
  • Light food
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat or cap
  • Trail-appropriate shoes

Facilities

Facilities are extremely limited. There may be a simple stand operating occasionally, but this is not guaranteed. There are no restrooms or restaurants. Visitors should bring everything they need and take their trash back.

Visitor profile

The beach is mainly frequented by naturists, couples and people looking for a discreet, uncrowded environment. It is not suitable for visitors uncomfortable with nudism or unprepared for the hike.

Important tips

  • Avoid hiking alone
  • Go early to allow enough daylight
  • Strictly follow naturism rules
  • Plan your return before late afternoon
