The Story of Michou and Her Restaurant
Micheline Michaud arrived in Brazil in the 1970s and fell in love with Búzios, which was then a small fishing village being discovered by artists and bohemians. With a gift for hospitality and a talent for French cooking, she opened Chez Michou on Rua das Pedras and quickly made the space a gathering point for the city’s cultural scene. Over the decades, celebrities, presidents and travellers from around the world have passed through, and the house still preserves the original spirit of its founder.
The Menu
The house speciality is sweet and savoury crêpes, prepared in front of guests with fresh ingredients and varied toppings. The most popular are the chicken, mushroom and cream cheese crêpe and, on the sweet side, the classic Nutella and strawberry crêpe. The crème brûlée is another signature dish — creamy, with a perfectly caramelised crust. For groups, the cheese fondue is a sure bet on cooler nights.
The Live Show
What truly sets Chez Michou apart is the nightly spectacle staged in the restaurant’s outdoor space. Performers in extravagant costumes deliver circus acts, dance numbers and comedy, weaving between tables and engaging with guests in a completely unique atmosphere. The outdoor terrace, with its little tables on the Rua das Pedras pavement, is the perfect stage for watching the show while savouring a crêpe.
Visit Tips
Reservations are highly recommended during peak season (December to March and public holidays). Arrive before 8 p.m. to secure an outdoor table with a good view of the show. The atmosphere is lively, loud and festive — not ideal for an intimate dinner, but perfect for a fun night out in Búzios. Parking on Rua das Pedras is limited; arriving on foot or by ride-hailing app is a better bet.
